Supporting Community Care in Bulembu

Case Study: Bulembu

Boris Software supports charity Bulembu Ministries with their operations management to provide housing for the local community:

About Bulembu

Bulembu Ministries, part of the Challenge Ministries Swaziland group, is a not-for-profit organisation that supports families and the wider community in Bulembu, via healthcare, education, sustainability projects and enterprise.

Bulembu is an abandoned mining town in the country of Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland. Eswatini borders South Africa and is an area with one of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in the world, one of the main causes of the vast number of orphaned and vulnerable children.

Caring for over 400 children, the charity provides food, shelter, clothing and tuition, as well as providing the wider community with social services such as a health clinic, schools, church and more.

The Solution

Boris Software started supporting the charity in 2020 to help them in providing the care needed for the children of Bulembu. We provided a BORIS system and user licences, with full training, to help digitise and streamline the day-to-day management of their facilities.

Working closely with the team, we built their system to streamline the maintenance of the housing and education facilities the charity provides so that they can focus on the children and families they care for.

Using BORIS, Bulembu have created forms to manage their electrical jobs, parks & gardens works, general maintenance and more. Using the planner they can create a new job and allocate to the relevant member of the team, tracking the costs of the works and providing before and after pictures to show progress.

Supporting the children of Bulembu

The Boris Software team also wanted to make a contribution to the charity and in December 2020 completed a very cold and wet sponsored walk in the Yorkshire Dales to help raise money to go towards the provision of food and tuition for the children of Bulembu.
